When I showed this video to my Chinese friend Yolanda she said that this is exercise and each lady pays around 10rmb ($1.60) a month to be taught the moves. Wow, what a workout! Groups of ladies of a certain age meet in open spaces like this all over the city and even the country. I've seen it in at least 3 different spots in Shekou, and Yolanda says her mom does this in Harbin in the North of China. And every single lady is so poker faced about what they're doing! Wouldn't you be cracking up if you were doing this in public? This is obviously very serious business.
